On Thursday, March 7th residents and business leaders in Unincorporated Catawba County and its municipalities will be able to review and discuss the latest update to their flood hazard and flood risk data.

On Jan. 30, 2024, Governor Roy Cooper requested a disaster declaration from the Small Business Administration (SBA) after severe storms impacted North Carolina on Jan. 9. This prompted the SBA to approve low-interest disaster loans for businesses and residents in Catawba County and the adjacent counties of Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, Iredell, and Lincoln.  Businesses and residents in the declared area impacted by the storms can apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA.

As a result of continuous complaints from the community, the Alcohol Law Enforcement Division concluded an investigation into an illegal outlet in Wilmington. On Saturday January 20, 2024, ALE, assisted by the Wilmington Police Department and New Hanover County Sheriffs’ Office, executed a search warrant at 1219 S 5th Ave, Wilmington, NC.

On Monday, February 19th the residents and business leaders in Unincorporated Burke County, the City of Morganton, and the Town of Drexel will be able to review and discuss the latest update to their flood hazard and flood risk data.

Gaston County will host a Public Open House on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 p.m., at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Citizens Resource Center located at 1303 Dallas Cherryville Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034

Lincoln County will host a Public Open House on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 p.m., in the Board Room of the County Administration Building located at 353 N. Generals Blvd. Lincolnton, NC 28092

The N.C. Task Force for Racial Equity in Criminal Justice last week released its 2023 Year-End Report that summarizes the work of the task force over the last year, as well as accomplishments and resolutions resulting from the original 125 recommendations made in December 2020.

The State Emergency Response Commission will meet Friday, January 19, 2024. Some members of the commission will attend in person at the State Emergency Operations Center and others will participate via video conference.

Iredell County will host a Public Open House on Monday, February 5th, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 p.m., at the N.C. Cooperative Extension - Iredell County Agricultural Center 444 Bristol Dr, Statesville, NC.

North Carolina State Interoperability Executive Committee (SIEC) to meet Tuesday
WHAT:  A meeting of the State Interoperability Executive Committee (SIEC), a subcommittee of the State Emergency Response Committee. This will be a hybrid meeting both in person and virtual.

Governor Roy Cooper and Emergency Management Officials are urging North Carolinians to be safe and cautious as severe weather enters the state.

North Carolina Emergency Management wants the public to be aware of Duke Energy’s plans to test the sirens at four nuclear plants that have areas within North Carolina that may hear the tests.
