Lanesboro Correctional Institution is a multi-custody prison facility in Polkton, housing offenders in close, medium and minimum custody. The prison is named for the nearby community of Lanesboro.  

The prison's original construction included 1,000 close custody cells. A 504-bed medium custody building was added a few years after opening. In September 2016, neighboring Brown Creek Correctional Institution merged with Lanesboro, becoming its 350-bed minimum custody unit.  

Correction Enterprises operates two industries at Lanesboro. The metal products plant employs minimum-custody offenders producing a variety of stainless steel kitchen equipment and other metal goods. Close and medium custody inmates staff the CE packaging operation.

Lanesboro has 128 segregation cells and eight health care beds. 

VISITATION

Visitation by appointments only.

Regular Population inmates will visit as follows:

Monday - Thursday and Saturday: 8:15 - 10:15 a.m. and 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

STG and Control Status inmates will visit as follows:

Fridays: 9 - 10 a.m., 1 - 2 p.m. and 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Appointments for visits may be scheduled Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. -  noon and 1 - 4 p.m.

Special visits are initiated by the offender by sending a request to the Unit Manager. The Unit Manager will forward the request to the Assistant Superintendent for Custody/Operations for approval. The visitor must be on the offender's visitor list in order to visit.

Children are counted as a visitor. Offenders are only allowed three visitors per visit.
 

DIRECTIONS

US 1 South to Rockingham. Take US 74 West through Wadesboro. Turn left approximately 6 miles west of Wadesboro on Prison Camp Road. Turn left on Old Prison Camp Road. Turn into the second paved drive on the right to the institution.
