 Executive Director Caroline Valand

Department of Public Safety Secretary Erik Hooks named Caroline C. Valand as executive director of the Governor’s Crime Commission. She began her new duties May 1.

Valand served as chief of staff to the president and CEO of 3D Systems in Rock Hill where she oversaw the planning and execution of administrative and operational activities of the company. Prior to that time, Valand served as chief of staff for Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton and was executive director of the North Carolina Democratic Party.

Valand holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in legislative affairs from George Washington University.
