North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) is pleased to announce the following vacancy for interns. This vacancy is located at the North Carolina State Emergency Operations Center in Raleigh, NC. The NCEM Internship Program provides emerging professionals an opportunity to gain useful experience in the field of emergency management.

The NCEM Internship Program provides emerging professionals an opportunity to gain useful experience in the field of emergency management. The cover letter should describe the reasons of interest in the position, and how the position will benefit you in the future. Any Bachelor’s or Master’s-degree seeking students are invited to apply for this position. 

All application packages should be received by Friday, August 31st at 5PM. Once all application packages have been reviewed, the most competitive candidates will be contacted for an interview. This position is a 12-week unpaid internship to take place during the term September 24 – December 14, 2018.

Threat Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Project
NCEM Section/Branch: Planning – Homeland Security
Hours Per Week: 10-20 (Unpaid)
Project Overview:

The Homeland Security Branch within North Carolina Emergency Management is responsible for conducting federally mandated State Programs developed by the Department of Homeland Security. The following programs will need assistance/review/development: Threat Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA), Stakeholder Preparedness Review (SPR), Protected Critical Infrastructure Information Program (PCII), and the North Carolina Division Strategy. 

  • Intern will work closely with NCEM Homeland Security staff to perform data analysis, plan development, technical writing, policy research, event planning, and meeting facilitation related to state homeland security programs.
