GRANVILLE COUNTY RESTORATIVE YOUTH PROGRAMS : GRANVILLE COUNTY SENTENCING CIRCLES

Location: Oxford, Granville County, NC

Oversight: This program receives funding and/or oversight by DPS.

Length of service: 1 to 3 months

Sentencing Circle is a community-based diversion program providingan alternative response for misdemeanor offenders. We adhere to the restorative justice theory of accountability to the victim and the community by bringing together the juvenile offender and parent(s)/guardian(s), the victim (when applicable), and members of the community. Trainedpeers and participants make decisions as to how the offender should take responsibility for his or her actions, implementing a Plan of Action.
