SHP Preparing for Increased Traffic During Holiday Season

The State Highway Patrol is preparing for the holiday season and for the increased number of roadway users expected across our state.  During the coming weeks, the Patrol will proactively target dangerous driver behaviors to include speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.   

State Highway Patrol Graduates 39 New Troopers

The State Highway Patrol officially welcomed 39 new troopers at a swearing-in ceremony held for the 154th Basic Highway Patrol School.  The ceremony ended 12 weeks of rigorous training to prepare the new troopers for a rewarding career of service to the state of North Carolina.
 

State’s new Regional Resilience Portfolio Program to help NC communities plan for climate change

North Carolina’s new Regional Resilience Portfolio Program has launched a partnership that will advance resilience in eastern regions of the state impacted by Hurricane Florence. The program will be coordinated regionally with the support of councils of governments and the N.C. Rural Center. The initiative aims to build the foundation for a more resilient North Carolina by proactively engaging with community leaders to determine and plan for climate hazards.
