What: Mobilization Ceremony for the North Carolina National Guard’s 1450th Transportation Company for their deployment in support of Operation Resolute Support.

Special Instructions: Interested media organizations are encouraged to arrive at the Mountain Grove Baptist Church by 5:45 p.m., in order to become oriented with the facility and to allow time for set up for camera coverage. Interviews will be granted at the conclusion of the ceremony; the unit will identify Soldiers from local area for interview subjects. Ashe County Unit to Deploy overseas

The North Carolina National Guard’s 1450th Transportation Company will host a mobilization ceremony Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Mountain Grove Baptist Church,  2485 Connelly Springs Road, Granite Falls.

The 1450th will deploy in support of Operation Resolute Support by providing critical transportation and convoy security for military host nation transportation assets in Afghanistan. The unit will also provide assistance and mentorship to host nation security forces in order to develop self-sufficient logistical strategies and operations as U.S. forces draw down.

The unit is composed primarily of heavy wheel transportation vehicles with the ability to provide of a wide range of hauling capabilities ranging from containerized movement to hauling refrigerated or bulk water cargo.

The unit has previously deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
