Media Advisory: NCNG’s Second Annual Minuteman Muster Road Race and Community Event

What:  2014 Minuteman Muster, sponsored by the North Carolina National Guard Association, N.C. disaster relief agencies, NCNG Family Readiness Groups and military support non-profit groups.

When: Saturday, May 17, 2014, 10 a.m. (Registration begins at 7 a.m.)

Where: NCNG Joint Force Headquarters, 1636 Gold Star Drive, Raleigh, N.C.

Special Instructions: The event consists of two races, a long distance 8K run and a 5k run. The races and public events begin at 10 a.m. and conclude with an award ceremony ending at noon.. Media are asked to arrive no later than 9:30 a.m., at NCNG Joint Force Headquarters in order to capture footage of the start of the race.

N.C. National Guard Hosts Second Annual 'Minuteman Muster' Race and Community Event

The North Carolina National Guard Association and Young and Associates will host the 'Minuteman Muster,' a community outreach initiative, that highlights the Guard’s domestic response mission in conjunction with numerous state emergency response partner agencies beginning at 10 a.m. at the NCNG Joint Force Headquarters located at 1636 Gold Star Dr., May, 18.

More than 300 racers will compete in a 8-kilometer run, 8-kilometer team competition run or a 5- kilometer run. Military support organizations and NCNG Family Readiness Groups will provide concessions and informational displays throughout the race on site.

Other events open to public include static displays of military and civilian first responder vehicles and equipment, a rock climbing wall and much more.
