N.C. Air National Guard MAFFS Media Day

The North Carolina Air National Guard will hold a MAFFS Media Day at the 145th Airlift Wing, 4930 Minuteman Way, Charlotte on Wednesday, April 29 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The 145th Airlift Wing is one of only four units in the entire Air Force with the aerial firefighting mission. The annual MAFFS (Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System) training will include airmen from both the North Carolina and Wyoming Air National Guard. The training will take place this week at the 145th Airlift Wing in Charlotte and next week in Greenville, South Carolina. The MAFFS mission is a joint mission between the United States Air Force and the United States Forest Service. MAFFS is credited with saving many lives and millions of dollars in public and private property.

All media are invited to cover this event. Reporters are requested to arrive at the entry gate no later than 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 29th and show official photo identification. Those who do not provide this information by 4 p.m. today will not be allowed on the base.
