N.C. National Guard Soldiers Deploy

What: Mobilization Ceremony for the North Carolina National Guard’s Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 113th Field Artillery for their deployment in support of U.S. Navy Central Command.

When: Saturday, March 28, 12 p.m.

Where: James W. Warren Citizens Center, 115 W. Main Street, Lincolnton

Special Instructions: Interested media organizations are encouraged to arrive at the James W. Warren Citizens Center, by 11:30 a.m., in order to become oriented with the facility and to allow time for set up for camera coverage. Interviews will be granted at the conclusion of the ceremony. 1-113th Field Artillery Deploys Overseas

The North Carolina National Guard’s Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 113th Field Artillery will host a Mobilization Ceremony Saturday, March 28, at the James W. Warren Citizens Center, 115 W. Main Street, Lincolnton.

The Alpha Battery will deploy in support of U.S. Navy Central Command by providing security in Bahrain. Alpha Battery deployed with the 1-113th Battalion and the 30th Brigade on two occasions supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005 and 2009.

As part of the dual mission of the National Guard, Alpha Battery was also activated in 2012 to support the Democratic National Convention. Their mission was to secure key facilities throughout the city of Charlotte and be prepared to react should civil unrest present itself.
