Siler City Guard Unit Hosts Redeployment Ceremonies

Community leaders, friends, family, fellow soldiers celebrated the return of the North Carolina National Guard’s 112th Financial Management Detachment and the 430th Ordnance Company (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) on Sun., Dec. 8, at a ceremony held at the 112th’s armory, 801 Alston Bridge Road.

The finance soldiers return from their duty at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo. They provided finance support for all military and Department of Defense civilians in theater. Missions included paying soldiers, other military personnel and civilian employees and contractors, budgeting, disbursing and accounting for government funds.

The soldiers of the 430th returned from service across Southwest Asia with duty in Kuwait, Qatar and Jordan. They destroyed unexploded ordnance and eliminated the threat of hundreds of tons of explosives on more than 100 missions.

The 112th deployed in June 2012 and the 430th in May 2012.
