NC SAVAN

SAVAN Logo

NC SAVAN (North Carolina Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification) is a criminal justice information-sharing system that supports automated victim notification. NC SAVAN operates a 24-hour toll-free automated offender information and notification service. Individuals may call the toll-free number 1-877-NC SAVAN (1-877-627-2826) to learn about an offender's status, register for offender notification, or to learn about victim assistance resources in their area.

Notifications are provided in English and Spanish, and translation services are available in more than 100 languages relative to services provided by NC SAVAN. Once registered, users may receive offender notifications through automated telephone and e-mail notifications, or by downloading telephone applications. This service is meant to augment victim services offered by key agencies.

NC SAVAN educates the public about victim notification options and rights and victim assistance resources. The program leads the effort to improve information sharing to support safety, justice and healing for victims.

NC SAVAN is committed to providing a central place where victims can learn about their rights and how they can participate in the criminal justice process. Information on this webpage will guide users through each stage of the criminal justice process.

The NC SAVAN program is governed through the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. The program is supported by several federal grants through the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs including Victims of Crime Act, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant, and Bureau of Justice Assistance SAVIN Enhancement Grant.
