Grants

The Department of Public Safety administers federal criminal justice block grants through the Governor's Crime Commission and homeland security, disaster preparedness and disaster recovery grants through the Division of Emergency Management.

Governor's Crime Commission Grants

The Governor's Crime Commission administers federal block grants for criminal justice, juvenile justice, and victims service programs in North Carolina. The Commission administers about $100 million of grants each year and assures that money is disbursed according to federal and state governmental regulations during the life of the grants.
  
The grants are awarded to government, education and social service agencies for innovative programs in the following areas:

  • Victims of Crime
  • Violence Against Women
  • Drug Control and System Improvement
  • Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
  • Law Enforcement
     

Emergency Management Grants

North Carolina Emergency Management administers federal and state preparedness and recovery grant programs to improve the state's ability to prevent, protect, respond and recover from all hazards, both man-made and natural.
