Our office administers the Rape Victim Assistance Program, which pays for forensic medical examinations following rape or other sexual offenses committed in North Carolina. If you are a patient and receive a bill for a forensic exam, please contact us for assistance.

If you receive a bill for the cost of a forensic medical exam, please contact our office. By law, medical providers cannot bill you or your insurance for the forensic exam.
No. The program is only authorized to cover the expenses related to the forensic exam.
The state Victim Compensation Program helps eligible survivors of violent crime and families of homicide victims pay for expenses including medical care, counseling, lost wages and funeral services. To learn more about the program and start an application, visit ncdps.gov/4victims.
