
Matthew Rebuck
Matthew Rebuck was appointed director of Samarcand Training Academy in May 2022. In this role, he leads the department’s premier training academy located on 460 acres in Moore County, and 113 acres in Montgomery County. Samarcand Training Academy provides basic, in-service and advanced training for state law enforcement agencies, as well as juvenile justice officers and counselors. Many other local and federal agencies also train at Samarcand.
Rebuck comes to DPS from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where his most recent assignment was as a supervisory special agent at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He began his law enforcement career in 1988, serving in the U.S. Air Force Security Police followed by roles as a campus police officer for the University of New Mexico and an officer and sergeant with the Portsmouth Police Department in Virginia. Rebuck served 20 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assignments in Baltimore, Maryland and Quantico, Virginia.
Rebuck holds a Doctorate in Strategic Leadership from Liberty University. He is a graduate and past instructor of the FBI National Academy.
