Community Leave Program

The Community Leave Program provides an opportunity for inmates to attend activities in the local community which will assist in their reintegration into society. Trained volunteers escort inmates during the activity.

Criteria for Participation
Prison managers review inmate progress reports, infractions, criminal history and public opinion to determine eligibility.

Program Operation
The facility's volunteer coordinator is responsible for the training and certification of volunteers who serve as community leave sponsors. After completing the required training, volunteers must complete a one month probationary period before they are allowed to escort inmates to an activity.

All activities must be approved prior to leave. While on the community leave pass, inmates cannot have contact with relatives. Leaves may not exceed six hours. An inmate may be allowed a maximum of three leaves per week. Female volunteers may not sponsor male inmates and male volunteers may not sponsor female inmates on outside activities.
