Veterans - Earn & Learn
Did you know that Veterans have the opportunity to “EARN and LEARN” in a Registered Apprenticeship while receiving GI Bill™ education benefits? We want to help put Veterans in the driver's seat when it comes to using their education benefits. We want them to be the most informed consumers … That is why we are working together with the Department of Commerce and NC Works/apprenticeship to make GI Bill™ approval for registered apprenticeship programs a seamless process.
Registered Apprenticeship programs are qualified to be “Approved for GI Bill™”. Upon registration of a position with the Department of Commerce and NC Works/apprenticeship, the company is provided the paperwork necessary to allow Veterans to receive a monthly stipend in addition to their wages.
What is registered apprenticeship?
Apprenticeship is a unique, voluntary, industry driven system that prepares individuals for occupations requiring a broad range of high-level skills and related technical knowledge. The apprentice learns the “how-to” as a wage earning employee on the job while under the guidance of a highly skilled journeyworker. The “why” is learned through job-related education.
Apprenticeship impacts your bottom line by:
- Increasing employee retention
- Reducing recruitment costs
- Improving safety
- Increasing employee skill levels
- Improving product quality
- Increasing customer satisfaction
- Improving productivity
- Reducing production costs
- Improving employee morale
Apprenticeship is a toolkit for:
- Employee reward and recognition
- Marketing opportunities
- Continuous learning culture
- Retraining or cross-training
- Career development program
- Training program certification
- Future manpower needs
- EEO or diversity goals
- Customized training based on needs
Companies that participate in the Registered Apprenticeship Program are investing in their workforce through high quality training and career opportunities. Industries are on the lookout for talent and our Nation's Veterans have proven to be knowledgeable and talented – linking them with apprenticeship opportunities will help get our Veterans on the road to a new career.
