Mecklenburg County developed the Violence Prevention Data Collaborative in 2020 to facilitate cross-sector partnership through data sharing, reporting and evaluation. One key initiative is the development of the Community Violence Data Dashboard.
The interactive dashboard provides Mecklenburg County data including emergency visits, homicides and youth violence. The data visualizations make it easier to interpret and use data for program planning and research. Practitioners can use the resource to measure, identify and track trends of community violence in Mecklenburg County.
The Violence Prevention Data Collaborative is currently working on several other projects including a report on the financial and social impact of gun violence in Mecklenburg County and an evaluation of alternatives to violence programs.
Key partners include the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department; City of Charlotte Innovation and Technology Department; Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department; and Johnson C. Smith University.
