USA Boxing is regulated by the North Carolina Boxing and Combat Sports Commission. Interim Executive Director Alvin Coley and Assistant Director Tamara Moore attend various USA Boxing events throughout North Carolina to monitor event operations and to interact with the boxers. Most boxers participating in events in NC are under the age of eighteen. The NCBCSC works with USA Boxing to ensure the safety of these young boxers in and out of the ring and celebrates the achievements of boxing clubs across the state.

The Coach Al Lowe Greensboro Boxing Club continues to raise the bar for youth boxing excellence, following a strong performance at the 2025 National Junior & Youth Golden Gloves Tournament. The competition was held July 10–13 at Camp Jordan Arena in East Ridge, TN.

Sharun Sims, age 13, claimed the title of Golden Gloves Champion in the 138-pound division. Displaying impressive skill, focus and composure, Sims outboxed his competition to earn the championship belt—bringing pride back to the Greensboro community. His win marks a major milestone in his young career and highlights the talent being developed at the Coach Al Lowe Greensboro Boxing Club.
Tyjae Blackmon, 15, competed in the highly competitive 132-pound class and advanced to the semi-final round, where he faced a two-time national champion. In a match decided by split decision, Tyjae narrowly missed advancing to the finals but proved himself a force to be reckoned with. His performance reflected determination, discipline and technical skill.

Both athletes were coached by Carey Cagle, who traveled with the team and provided ringside guidance throughout the competition. The club operates under Robert Chapman, who leads a growing program of over 300 active members and 12 competitive amateur boxers.
"The North Carolina Boxing and Combat Sports Commission applauds these young boxers," said Coley. "To reach this milestone is incredible, and sharing their story only uplifts and exposes the success of the club, their community and USA Boxing."
The Coach Al Lowe Greensboro Boxing Club trains out of the Lindley Recreation Center at 2907 Springwood Dr. in Greensboro. The club provides local youth with a supportive space to develop discipline, character and athletic excellence through the sport of boxing.
All licensed participants, including boxers and coaches, compete under the rules established by the Boxing and Combat Sports Commission, which governs licensing, sanctioning and the conduct of all live boxing events across the state. The Commission plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, integrity and professional standards of the sport.
