Reported cases of white-collar crime, which includes fraud, embezzlement and extortion, rose between 2020 and 2024, according to a report released today by the NC Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Justice Analysis Center. CJAC Director Michelle Beck presented the data at the quarterly meeting of the Governor’s Crime Commission in Raleigh.

For Immediate Release

RALEIGH — The Governor's Crime Commission will hold its quarterly meeting on June 4. The session will include a presentation on the governor's criminal justice priorities and a vote on federal criminal justice grant funding administered by the commission.

The North Carolina Gang Prevention and Intervention Task Force will bring together its members in Raleigh on May 26.

Co-chairs Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary of the Department of Adult Correction, and Siarra Scott, director of the NC Office of Violence Prevention, will lead the meeting, which will be held in-person at the offices of the Governor’s Crime Commission and also streamed online.

The meeting is open to the public and to media. In-person attendees must sign in at the registration desk before entering the conference room.
