Rape Victim Assistance Program

The Rape Victims Assistance Program pays for the cost of a forensic medical examination. State law instructs medical providers who perform the forensic medical examination to refrain from billing the victim or the victim’s personal insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or any other collateral source for the examination. Instead, the law requires that service providers who conduct the exam bill the RVAP for the cost.

If you are mistakenly billed for the cost of a forensic medical examination, please contact the Office of Victim Services for assistance.
