Not all of the programs listed receive funding and oversight by the Juvenile Justice Section of North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice. Staff provide trauma-informed, evidence-based counseling for individuals to redirect inappropriate behavior and treat mental health or substance abuse problems. Outpatient mental health counseling utilizes trauma-informed CBT for treatment. Trauma-focused Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a collaborative form of therapy where the child, family and therapist work to address and manage the emotional effects of trauma.

Intensive in-home is a 4-6 month service that is provided to recipients ages 4 through 20 for rehabilitative supports to reduce law enforcement involvement and prevent out of home placement for the child.

Alexander's Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility is located on the campus of Alexander Children's Center in Charlotte. The 36-bed treatment unit serves children ages 5-14 with severe emotional, behavioral and psychological problems who need a highly structured, therapeutic environment. All services are provided under the direction of a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist with nursing on site 24-hours a day. Children's/Adolescent Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTF)
12 bed psychiatric residential treatment facility for male and female adolescents age 13 to 17. This program helps young people who suffer from severe emotional and/or behavioral problems and cannot be treated successfully through outpatient counseling, group home placement or other, non-secure methods. Offering an on-site classroom and intensive individual, group and family therapy, Youth Focus' Residential Center treats young people with depression, anxiety, severe stress.

Children's/Adolescent Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTF)
Parent/Family skill building services to the parents of young people in trouble with or potentially in trouble with the law utilizing the Strengthening Families Program curriculum. Parents and youth participate both separately and together and sessions include: appropriate developmental expectations, teaching parents how to interact positively with children, family communication including active listening and reducing criticism/sarcasm, family meetings to improve organization and consistency.
