Through an open house on Thursday, April 27, Secretary Erik A. Hooks of the Department of Public Safety, along with W. David Guice, Chief Deputy Secretary of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice, will introduce elected officials and community leaders to the renovated Lenoir Youth Development Center in Kinston.

The reopening of the Lenoir YDC -- a newer, more secure facility -- marks a significant milestone in the completion of the Juvenile Justice Facilities Strategic plan, as this will permit Juvenile Justice to close the outdated Dobbs YDC in Kinston, which will be repurposed for other use. Youths will be moved to Lenoir YDC beginning May 15.
