Melissa Earp

Melissa Earp was named the department’s chief financial officer in late 2022. She previously served the department in the Division of Adult Correction as deputy secretary of administration. Earp has worked for DPS for more than 24 years. Before her promotion to deputy secretary, she served as director and assistant director of Prisons’ administrative services, regional administrative services manager and office assistant. She also spent two years working as the chief financial officer for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission from 2017-19. As CFO, Earp is responsible for the department’s financial operations and manages all financial matters and decision-making. This includes accounting, financial reporting and business control.
