What: Crime Victims Compensation Quarterly Commission Meeting

When: Wednesday, March 16, 10 a.m.

Where: Victim Compensation Conference Room, Ground Floor, G-24D of the Archdale Building, 512 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh

Background: The Crime Victims Compensation Commission reimburses victims of violent crime for medical bills, lost wages, out-of-pocket expenses and other losses related to their victimization. At this meeting, the commission will hear 50 claims totaling $776,479.

The meeting is closed when board members and staff discuss specific cases. This complies with General Statute 15B-8.1 which states that claimant records are confidential concerning medical records, any law enforcement or juvenile records and when “concerning the physical, mental or emotional condition of the claimant or victim.”

The total amount awarded to a victim or claimant, is public information. “Except for information held confidential under this subsection, the records of the Division shall be open to public inspection,” G.S. 15B-8.1.
