The State Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle head-on collision in Warren County near the city of Warrenton that resulted in three fatalities.
According to investigators, at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016, a 2013 Honda CRV, operated by Desmond Cornelius Roberts, 26, of Henrico, N.C., was traveling east on Martin Luther King Boulevard when his vehicle traveled left of center into the path of a 2003 Honda Accord traveling west. That vehicle was being operated by Brittany Nicole Silver, 29, of Norlina, N.C. Both vehicles collided head-on.
At the time of the collision, Mr. Roberts had two other backseat passengers in the vehicle; Joshua Roberts, 5, and Anthony Roberts Jr., 7, both from Gaston, N.C. The collision resulted in the death of Desmond Roberts, Joshua Roberts and Brittany Silver. Anthony Roberts was transported to a local hospital and then transferred to Duke. Both children were properly restrained at the time of the collision.
At this time, it is unclear as to why Mr. Roberts drifted left of center. Neither speed nor alcohol was factors in this collision.
