Steven Markel McGregor, 23, of 525 Love Grove Church Road, West End, was killed in an apparent hit and run accident that occurred Friday morning, May 20, on N.C. Route 211 in front of West End Elementary School. The approximate time of the crash was 4:30 a.m.
Steven’s cousin found McGregor’s body beside a split rail fence in front of the school. She called 911 about 6 a.m. and Moore County Sheriff’s deputies and EMS arrived about 6:15. Deputies found debris on the side of the road and called the Highway Patrol to investigate.
The attached footage was recorded from a camera at a nearby convenience store. The truck appears to be a light colored, early 2000's full-size Dodge pickup truck with a ladder rack.
