ALE Charges Nine for Underage Drinking, Drug Violations at Prom Party

MOUNT GILEAD
Apr 11, 2017

Alcohol Law Enforcement agents charged nine under-aged youths with alcohol and drug violations at an April 9 prom party held at a private residence with no adult supervision.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office suspected underage consumption of alcoholic beverages at an after-prom party and requested ALE’s assistance. ALE Special Agent Allen Roberts and Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies checked a Woodrun residence at 133 Muskett Court following the April 8 prom at East Montgomery High School.

Agent Roberts and deputies found alcoholic beverages and drugs. The party was attended by students from West Montgomery and East Montgomery high schools.

ALE Special Agent in Charge Mike Yates said, “It is not unusual for after-prom parties to be a source of alcoholic beverages for underage persons, as well as drugs, especially if the parties are not monitored by adults.”

The following people were charged with criminal violations:

Robert Alvarez, 17, Star

  • Consume an alcoholic beverage while being less than 19 years old

Kameron Batten, 18, Troy

  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Andrew Cranford, 17, Troy

Andrew Green, 17, Troy

Justin Green, 20, Troy

  • Consume an alcoholic beverage while being less than 21 years old
  • Give spirituous liquor to an underage person
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Sara Hearne, 16, Biscoe

Henry Ingram, 17, Biscoe

  • Consume an alcoholic beverage while being less than 19 years old
  • Give an alcoholic beverage to an underage person (9 counts)

Michaelee Morganelli, 16, Winston-Salem

  • Consume an alcoholic beverage while being less than 19 years old

Shelby Vest, 18, Robbins

  • Consume an alcoholic beverage while being less than 19 years old

Gavin Watts, 18, Biscoe

  • Consume an alcoholic beverage while being less than 19 years old

During the investigation, ALE found the property is owned by Wayne and Janice Ingram of Biscoe. Their son, Henry, was hosting the party. Alcoholic beverages and marijuana were seized from the residence by ALE.

Yates said ALE is concerned when similar parties are hosted and attended by underage persons. These parties often lead to binge drinking which could result in alcohol poisoning or an underage person deciding to drive after the party which could have similarly tragic consequences.
