The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Emily T. Coltrane of Randolph County as Juvenile Court Services Area Administrator for the Piedmont Region, comprised of 19 counties. Coltrane becomes one of four juvenile area administrators in North Carolina.

Governor Pat McCrory has notified the state’s seven Urban Search and Rescue Teams and seven hazardous materials Regional Response Teams to be on standby in preparation for severe weather that is predicted to roll across the state on Wednesday.

This afternoon Duke Energy notified the emergency management agencies for the state, Brunswick and New Hanover counties of damaged electrical equipment at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant near Southport. The utility declared an Alert in accordance with procedures.
