The deadline for North Carolinians to register for disaster assistance has been extended one week to 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018. FEMA granted the extension at the request of Gov. Roy Cooper.

Governor Cooper today requested federal disaster assistance for 21 North Carolina counties affected by Hurricane Michael in a letter to President Donald Trump.

As North Carolina recovers from the season’s first big winter storm, Governor Cooper is thanking responders and reminding residents to be prepared for more winter weather.

Time is almost up for survivors of Hurricane Florence to register for federal disaster assistance. The current deadline to apply for help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or for low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is Thursday, Dec.

As the weather warms today, North Carolina’s interstates and major highways are returning to normal, but many secondary roads and neighborhood streets are still treacherous. Governor Roy Cooper urged people to be remain cautious if venturing out onto the roadways.

North Carolina survivors of Hurricane Florence have until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018 to register for assistance from FEMA or apply for a low-interest loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
