State correctional and local law enforcement officers are seeking Rutherford Correctional Center minimum custody inmate James Pittman (#0559036), who was reported missing from his work release assignment in Marion on Tuesday. Pittman was last seen near the intersection of U.S. 221 and Interstate 40 at 
approximately 11:30 a.m.
Pittman, 45, is a white male with a medium build who stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 243 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes originally from Bladenboro, NC. He was serving a 15- to 27-month sentence for obtaining property by false pretenses and was admitted to prison on June 4, 2014. He was scheduled for release in May 2020.
