Jan 4, 2019

Public Safety Secretary Erik A. Hooks today named Chris Holland and Tracy Little as deputy secretaries within the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice effective Monday, Jan. 7.

Holland’s responsibilities will include oversight of inmate health care and Correction Enterprises. He also will serve as a liaison to the Inmate Grievance Review Board. Holland is a 24-year veteran of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He served as an associate warden or warden in the federal prison system for more than 10 years, including the past three as complex warden at the Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, where he was also responsible for the day-to-day operations at the Federal Medical Center.

“Chris Holland’s extensive experience with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, particularly in managing medical facilities in a prison environment, will be a tremendous asset to our Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice as we continue to move forward with necessary reforms to enhance the safety and security for our employees, offenders and the state’s prison facilities,” Hooks said.

Little has worked in adult corrections for nearly 20 years, serving in various capacities including deputy secretary of the former Department of Correction and most recently as special assistant for prison reform. She also spent five years at the Office of State Budget and Management, including service as assistant state budget officer. In her new role, Little will have oversight of budget and human resources and will also continue her responsibilities with prison reform to include coordinating with the Prison Reform Advisory Board.

“As a seasoned leader in adult corrections, Tracy brings an unparalleled wealth of knowledge of the complexities and challenges of the state’s correction system,” said Hooks. “Her familiarity with these issues combined with her can-do approach is essential as we reform our state’s prisons.”
