LaDonna Browning Named Regional Director for Western Region

The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named LaDonna Browning as the new Region Director for the Western Region with an office in Valdese.

Browning, 48, had been the facility administrator at Foothills Correctional Institution since 2012 where she was responsible for the overall operations at the facility, including offender custody, facility security, food service, medical, maintenance, educational services and other programs.

In her new position, Browning provides oversight to the region’s 16 correctional institutions/confinement in response to violation centers.

A veteran employee to state government, Browning began her career as a program assistant at Marion Correctional Institution in 1995 and was promoted to program supervisor four years later. She then transferred to Foothills Correctional Institution, where she served as unit manager for mental health and for the security threat group. She also served there as assistant superintendent for programs and as assistant superintendent for custody and operations.

Browning holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has completed the year-long Correctional Leadership Development Program.
