Sam Dotson Named New Superintendent of Lincoln Correctional Center

The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Sam Dotson as the new superintendent of the Lincoln Correctional Center in Lincolnton.

Dotson, 49, had been the assistant superintendent for operations at the Burke Confinement in Response to Violation Center in Morganton.

A veteran employee to state government, Dotson began his career as a correctional officer at Marion Correctional Center in 1995. Over his years at that facility, he was promoted to sergeant, assistant unit manager and then to unit manager.

In 2010, he was promoted to assistant superintendent at Rutherford Correctional Center and moved to the Burke Confinement Center in 2014.

In his new position, Dotson is responsible for all operations at the Lincoln Correctional Center, which is a minimum custody facility for adult male offenders.

He is a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Gulf War with the 101st Airborne Division. He attended McDowell Technical Community College and Western Piedmont Community College. He completed the year-long Correctional Leadership Development Program. He is a certified corrections general instructor and holds an advanced corrections certificate.
