WHAT: North Carolina Department of Public Safety Secretary Erik A. Hooks, along with other DPS leadership, government officials and community members, will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony next week to dedicate the new Samarcand Training Academy Dining Hall in Moore County.
The 7,500 square foot, single-story newly constructed building is capable of seating 180 students, guests and visitors. The new dining hall replaces the smaller Mitchell Cafeteria, which required two dining periods to accommodate everyone on campus.

ABOUT SAMARCAND TRAINING ACADEMY: Samarcand Training Academy provides men and women of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and other law enforcement professionals with the opportunity to learn and develop the skills necessary to protect and serve residents and communities. Since its opening in 2015, the Academy has provided basic, in-service and advanced training to correctional officers, probation/parole officers, juvenile justice employees as well as SBI and ALE agents.
