Following multiple fights and a recent stabbing, a Greensboro restaurant is without ABC permits.
On Sunday, April 11, 2021, four individuals arrived at a local Guilford County hospital suffering from stab wounds. All of them admitted they came from Tranquilo, located at 221 Elm Street, but never contacted law enforcement.
On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, officers with the Greensboro Police Department responded to Tranquilo regarding a large fight amongst patrons.
ALE was notified of the violence and immediately began investigating both incidents. A report was submitted to the ABC Commission for the violations, and on Friday, April 16, 2021, Tranquilo’s ABC permits were summarily suspended.
“ALE’s mission is to protect those who frequent ABC-licensed businesses,” said Mike Klingenschmidt, ALE Special Agent in Charge of the Greensboro district. “When violence occurs, ALE special agents work alongside our local law enforcement partners to maximize our efforts and enhance public safety.”
The criminal investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected.
