Bertie Correctional Institution offender Henry L. Bost (#0686470) has died after an apparent suicide.
He was found unresponsive in his cell around 5 p.m. today. The prison’s first responders performed lifesaving measures until local paramedics arrived. They also worked to resuscitate the offender and declared him deceased at approximately 5:16 p.m.
Law enforcement was notified of the death and is investigating, as is common in these circumstances. The Department of Public Safety is cooperating fully in the investigation and is also conducting its own investigation.
Bost, 40, was serving a 9-year, 11-month sentence for robbery with a deadly weapon after being convicted in Mecklenburg County. He was admitted to prison on May 7, 2016 and was projected to be released on April 11, 2023.
