ALE Investigation in Pittsboro, NC Nets Multiple Felonies

Following a long-term investigation, ALE special agents charged several individuals with multiple felonies and misdemeanors.    

 

On Thursday, September 7, 2023, ALE special agents executed a search warrant at Modern Life Deli and Drink, 46 Sanford Road, Pittsboro, NC. ALE began an investigation after receiving complaints of unlawful sales and use of controlled substances upon the premises. As a result of the investigation, several individuals were charged, to include a manager, employees and other individuals with a total of 52 charges, which included 28 felonies.  

 

After ALE special agents submitted the results of the investigation to the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission, Modern Life Deli and Drink’s ABC permits were suspended. The Chatham County Sheriff's Office and the Pittsboro Police Department assisted with the operation. 

The following subject has an outstanding warrant in relation to the Modern Life Deli and Drink case: 

 

  • Juan Antonio Otero Jr, 50, of Pittsboro, NC was charged with two counts of Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, Felony Conspire to Sell/Deliver Cocaine, three counts of Felony Sell/Delivery Marijuana, four counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine, Felony Sell/Deliver Cocaine and Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Delivery Marijuana. 

 

The following subjects have been charged in relation to the Modern Life Deli and Drink case: 

 

  • Braxton Howard Edmondson, 33, of Pittsboro, NC was charged with four counts of allowing unlawful conduct on a licensed premises and aid and abet underage in the purchase of alcoholic beverages.  

  • Richard Dylan Perry, 43, of Pittsboro, NC was charged with Felony Maintain a Dwelling/Vehicle/Place for Controlled Substances, three counts of allowing unlawful conduct on license premises and two counts of aid and abet underage in the purchase/possession of alcoholic beverages.   

  • Kevin Stevie Martinez Perez, 22, of Siler City, NC was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine, Felony Sell/Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 2 counts of allowing unlawful conduct on license premises.  

  • Jarrett J. Grala, 27, of Cream Ridge, NJ was charged with two counts of Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine, two counts of Felony Sell/Deliver Cocaine, two counts of Felony Conspire to Sell/Deliver Cocaine and two counts of possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

  • Jared Ashley Tabor, 46, of Pittsboro, NC was charged with Contributing to Delinquency of a Juvenile, Felony Conspire to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, Felony Deliver Marijuana, Felony Sell/Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, two counts Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance and two counts of Sell/Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance.  

  • Thomas Daniel Beal, 37, of Siler City, NC was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, Felony Sell/Deliver Marijuana, allowing unlawful conduct on a licensed premises and Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia.  

 

In addition to the above outstanding warrants and criminal charges, a Juvenile Complaint will be filed against a juvenile of Pittsboro, NC for Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Delivery Marijuana, Felony Sell/Delivery Marijuana, Felony Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Marijuana and Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia.
