Members of the media are invited to attend the grand opening festivities for PIVOT, a new enhanced behavioral health unit on the campus of C.A. Dillon Juvenile Detention Center in Butner, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12.

PIVOT is operated through a partnership between the North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, New Hope Treatment Centers, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and Alliance Health. This unit will serve youth in North Carolina who are referred from other detention centers and youth development centers, providing robust crisis intervention and stabilization services to help move youth towards restoration and rehabilitation.

PIVOT is being established as a pilot program, funded for two years, via a $3.5 million investment from NCDHHS, with the hope that it will serve as a roadmap for the seamless integration of mental health, trauma-informed care and secure custody.
