Wake County Troopers responded to a fatal collision involving a pick-up truck and bicyclist on Mount Pleasant Road just east of Fuquay Varina early Tuesday evening.
According to investigators, at approximately 7 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 3, William Clyde Denton Jr., 44, was operating a 2006 Ford F-150 pick-up and was traveling south on Mount Pleasant Road when he struck 33-year old bicyclist Lee William Morel of 8040 Mount Pleasant Church Road, Willow Springs. Mr. Morel was struck from behind and was ejected. He was transported to Wake Medical Center where he died later from his injuries.
Troopers are continuing their investigation into the collision. Once the collision has been completed, investigators will confer with the Wake County District Attorney’s Office as to possible charges.
