Harvey Clay named administrator at Lumberton Correctional Institution

The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has named Harvey Clay as the new administrator at Lumberton Correctional Institution. He assumed his new duties this week.

​Clay is a 27-year corrections veteran who most recently served as security coordinator for the 14 prisons that comprise the Central Region. He began his career as a correctional officer in 1989 at Harnett Correctional and was promoted through the ranks there. He has served on the Prison Emergency Response Team, Special Operations Response Team and on the NCDPS Honor Guard. Clay has also worked as a Prison Rape Elimination Act investigator and compliance manager and has completed advanced supervisory training.

​Clay is a Madison, Va., high school graduate. He succeeds Brad Perritt, who was promoted to administrator at Tabor Correctional Institution.

​Lumberton Correctional Institution houses approximately 770 adult male inmates in medium custody. It employs a staff of about 290 employees.
