At approximately 8:03 a.m., the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle collision on N.C. 98 near BayaVista Way in Wake County.
A Nissan passenger vehicle operated by Cheznee Johnson, 37, of 7325 Incline Drive Wake Forest was traveling west on N.C. 98. Ms. Cheznee traveled left of center and struck a Mac dump truck traveling east on N.C. 98. The operator of the Mac dump truck, identified as Alfredo Carbajal, 55, of 8 Austin Ct, Durham, lost control and traveled left of center, overturned, and struck a Volkswagen passenger vehicle traveling west on N.C. 98.
Ms. Johnson and Mr. Carbajal were treated and released at the scene by EMS personnel.
The operator of the Volkswagen passenger vehicle, which died at the scene, has been identified as Lisa Ortuno, 46, of 1032 Federal House Ave., Wake Forest.
Investigators are conferring with the Wake County D.A. regarding any possible charges.
