Inmate Tony Davis #0985653 was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 5:00 this morning at Lanesboro Correctional Institution. Prison medical staff and paramedics were unable to revive him and he was later declared dead, the result of an apparent suicide.
The Polkton Police Department is investigating the death.
Davis, 26, was serving 40 years for second degree murder. He has been in prison since June 2014. He was sentenced for the May 2013 shooting death of Christian Tobias McLean, 25, in Raleigh.
