Local, state and federal law enforcement and corrections personnel joined forces this week in a two-day joint operation in Alamance County called Operation Summer Slam that resulted in seven arrests and numerous charges.

During the operation, 45 officers and investigators searched residences and vehicles of 43 high-risk offenders on probation or parole supervision and conducted 41 sex offender compliance checks.

Prison Emergency Response Team officers, canine officers and members of the Special Operations & Intelligence Unit of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety joined forces with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Middle District Joint Fugitive Task Force, combining their extensive resources in this enforcement operation.

New charges issued during the operation include:
  • Possession with intent to sell/deliver a Schedule II substance
  • Two counts of possession of cocaine
  • Fleeing arrest in a motor vehicle
  • Nine counts of possession of Schedule IV substance
  • Seven counts of possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Among other items, shotgun shells, throwing knives, cocaine, and prescription pills were seized.
“This form of operation is vital in that it allows for an effective follow up tool for the criminal justice system in the monitoring of individuals residing in our communities under probation, parole or other post-conviction provisions,” said Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson. “This also reflects the collaborative efforts of local and state agencies in our common goal of providing public safety.”
