Twenty-five Charged with Drug Violations after Night Clubs Raided

Oct 24, 2015

Twenty five individuals were arrested for drug violations tonight, after multiple law enforcement personnel executed three search warrants at ABC mixed beverages licensed establishments.

The North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Branch joined resources with the Winston Salem Police Department, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Kernersville Police Department to conduct an investigation aimed at reducing illegal drug sales in ABC licensed outlets in Forsyth County. The investigation was initiated after citizen and local law enforcement complaints were received regarding illegal drug activity occurring at ABC licensed outlets.

The searches were conducted at the following three locations and resulted in seizures of heroin, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, opium, prescription pills and marijuana.

  • Club Risque, 5910 University Parkway, Winston Salem
  • Paper Moon Gentlemen’s Club, 1007 Salisbury Ridge Road, Winston Salem
  • Filly’s Gentlemen’s Club, 400 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston Salem

This investigation was conducted as part of ALE's Community Betterment Initiative which identifies communities in North Carolina where the quality of life for the citizens is disrupted by drugs, gangs and violence in their neighborhoods. ALE agents worked closely with local law enforcement during the investigation.

As a result of the investigation arrest warrants were issued for 25 employees totaling 122 criminal charges. A 30 day suspension of the ABC permits were issued by the N.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission for Club Risque, Paper Moon Gentlemen’s Club and Filly’s Gentlemen’s Club under N.C. General Statue 18B-904 (e)(4).

Reports of the alleged violations will be submitted to the ABC Commission by ALE for further action against the ABC permits.

ALE Special Agent in Charge Mike Yates said “This coordinated effort should serve notice to ABC licensed establishments that illegal drugs sales will not be tolerated.”
