Gang Prevention and Intervention Task Force Meeting

Co-chairs Leslie Cooley Dismukes, secretary of the Department of Adult Correction, and Siarra Scott, director of the NC Office of Violence Prevention, will lead the first meeting of the 20-member Gang Prevention and Intervention Task Force. 

Established by Governor Josh Stein through Executive Order 21, the task force serves as an advisory body to the Governor's Crime Commission. It's mission will be "to make recommendations to reduce the presence and impact of gang activity in North Carolina and to report on and support the implementation of such efforts. It shall focus on, but not be limited to, education, prevention, and intervention efforts focused on youth and justice-involved individuals; support and training for law enforcement; and enhanced coordination among community, local, state, and federal partners."

The meeting will be held at 1201 Front Street in Raleigh and is open to the public and to media. Attendees will be asked to sign in at the registration desk before entering the meeting.
