North Carolinians who suffered damage from Hurricane Florence have until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19 to register for federal disaster assistance.

The ReBuild North Carolina Program has announced additional dates of outreach events, occurring over the coming months, to assist homeowners who sustained damage from Hurricane Matthew complete their program application for recovery aid.

Offender Benjamin Williford (#1537738) died Tuesday afternoon at Maury Correctional Institution after an apparent suicide. He was found unresponsive in his cell at about 1:20 p.m. Prison medical staff and local paramedics responded and worked to resuscitate the offender but were unsuccessful.

LINCOLNTON - A juvenile committed through the juvenile justice system to the custody of the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice and placed at the Chatham Youth Development Center has failed to return from a home leave with his family.

Governor Cooper Urges North Carolinians to Apply with FEMA Right Away

The deadline for North Carolinians to register for disaster assistance has been extended one week to 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018. FEMA granted the extension at the request of Gov. Roy Cooper.
