Col. Glenn McNeill was officially sworn in today as commander of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. McNeill, who has served with the organization since 1994, will be the 27th commander since the Patrol’s inception in 1929.

In the aftermath of a disaster like Hurricane Matthew, survivors need help that is both short-term for immediate needs and long-term for getting back to normal.

The State Capitol Police are pleased to announce the promotion of Officer George (Ricky) Tucker to the rank of Sergeant.  The promotion was effective February 1, 2017.

The Highway Patrol has released the names of the two troopers involved in the Friday morning chase and armed confrontation that ended with the suspect’s death.

At approximately 7:15 Friday morning the Highway Patrol was asked to assist the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office in the pursuit of a murder suspect from South Carolina. A chase was underway on I-95, north of Rowland and the NC/SC state line.

Governor Roy Cooper today announced that North Carolina has received more than $198 million to help families and communities recover from Hurricane Matthew.  

On Monday, Feb. 6, residents and business leaders in Jones County communities will have an opportunity to review and discuss the latest flood hazard and flood risk data.

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, residents and business leaders in Tyrrell County communities and the Town of Columbia will have an opportunity to review and discuss the latest flood hazard and flood risk data.

The Disaster Recovery Centers in Cumberland, Edgecombe and Robeson counties will close at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2. The centers are located at: Cumberland County Dept. of Social Services 1225 Ramsey St. Fayetteville, NC 28301-4401

The deadline for registering with FEMA has passed, but that does not mean FEMA is leaving. Much work remains to be done in North Carolina and FEMA continues working with North Carolina Emergency Management to help survivors and communities recover.
