The State Highway Patrol has released the name of the sergeant involved in the Monday evening shooting in Lumberton, N.C.

Several states are providing emergency personnel, rescue equipment and other assets to help North Carolina flood victims following Hurricane Matthew.  

Public health officials are reminding citizens to “tip and toss” outdoor water containers after the heavy rains from Hurricane Matthew.   Standing water creates a breeding site for many types of mosquitoes.

Hurricane Matthew has caused major flooding throughout eastern and central North Carolina with the potential for more flooding as various rivers crest. As streams and rivers continue to swell, the greatest threat to life and property remains inland flooding.

The Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice has completed the evacuation of 797 inmates from Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro.
