Four disaster recovery information sessions scheduled for eastern North Carolina this week are postponed until further notice due to Hurricane Dorian. The information sessions were planned by a partnership of state agencies that includes the Governor’s Office of Engagement, N.C.

Gov. Roy Cooper today issued a mandatory evacuation order for North Carolina’s barrier islands and advised North Carolinians to complete their preparations for the arrival of Hurricane Dorian.

 The federal government has granted Governor Roy Cooper’s request for a federal disaster declaration for North Carolina in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian’s impact on the state. 

As local governments begin to issue evacuation orders, Governor Roy Cooper today advised people to pay attention to local evacuation instructions related to Hurricane Dorian and reminded others that time to get ready for the storm is running out. 

Governor Cooper urged North Carolinians today to pay close attention to Hurricane Dorian, and make sure they are ready for its possible impacts expected by the middle of the week. 

By Executive Order today, Governor Roy Cooper lifted restrictions on transportation to ensure critical needs like fuel, medicine and water can get to those affected by Hurricane Dorian if it hits North Carolina.
